The 2022 South American Beach Club Championship will be held in Puerto Madryn, Argentina from March 1st to 3rd, the South and Central American Handball Confederation (COSCABAL) has confirmed.
The competition, which will be jointly organized by COSCABAL, the Argentine Handball Federation, and the Madryn Sports Undersecretariat, will bring twelve men’s and twelve women’s beach handball teams into the city. Half will be from the host country, while the rest will be international teams from around Central and South America.
Places will be awarded to both the winners and runners-up of the men’s and women’s branches of the Argentina Cup. The remaining eight Argentinian teams will be chosen through the Arena 1000 tournaments, and the 12 international teams will be chosen by local COSCABAL affiliates.
Teams who participate in the tournament will be granted a score for the COSCABAL ranking, and will receive a place in the grand final of the COSCABAL Beach Handball Circuit.
Pre-registration for the event is open until January 30, 2022.
Puerto Madryn, a beautiful seaside resort in the Chubut province of Argentine Patagonia, will also host the 2022 Argentina Cup earlier that week, from February 25th to 27th. This event will bring together the winners of the Arena 1000 beach handball tournaments, held around the country throughout the months of January and February.
The Argentina Cup is always a hotly anticipated event, as it features the best beach handball players in the country, on some of the most spectacular beaches in the world. The South American Beach Club Championship, which will be take place annually beginning this year, is sure to also draw further interest to the sport of beach handball.
