American Samoa Welcomes Back Stephanie Floor, One of Beach Handball’s Most Impressive Young Players

At just 21 years old, Stephanie Floor is already one of American Samoa’s best beach handball players. She picked up the sport in 2013, when American Samoa Beach Handball was first established, and quickly rose to prominence in the territory. Stephanie primarily plays goalkeeper, but as one of her team’s most versatile players, she has competed in every court position at one time or another.

In 2017, she competed at the U17 Oceania Championship on the Gold Medal team and was awarded the Tournament’s Top Woman Player. The following year was a huge one for Stephanie, as she played on the YOG qualifying team at Mauritius, was a Silver Medalist with ASA Senior Woman’s Beach Handball Team, was awarded American Samoa Junior Female Athlete of the Year, and competed at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games. In 2019, Stephanie won a silver medal in the Oceania Championships and the Australian Open.

Stephanie was instrumental in propelling ASA to a win against New Zealand during the 2018 Australian Beach Handball Championships, where she blocked four out of five shots as a shootout goalkeeper. Incredibly, despite her young age, she is one of just four players who has competed for ASA in every women’s beach handball tournament and has consistently been the team’s top scorer.

Stephanie graduated from Leone High School in 2018 as Valedictorian and is now a student at Gannon University in Pennsylvania, USA, where she is also a college wrestler.

American Samoa Beach Handball is incredibly excited to have Stephanie back for future tournaments. She is currently the captain of the American Samoa Women’s Beach Handball Team, and as one of the sport’s most impressive rising stars, she certainly has a bright future ahead of her.
