Arena Handball Tour Summer 2021 Recap

According to the European Handball Federation, the top beach handball competition held at Ferrera beach facilities in Torrox, Malaga had more than 21,000 new viewers during the four days. There were more than 40 hours of streaming and more than 1 million minutes viewed on the European handball federation Twitter channel. Here is a recap of the arena handball tour summer 2021.

The CATS AM Team Almeria

The CATS AM Team Almeria won the competition in the EBT finals defeating the west side Amsterdam at the grand final held in the Ferrara beach in Torrox. The CATS AM Team Almeria has continued to validate its victory in the EBT finals by conquering three times in a time span of seven years. 

The CATS AM Team Almeria has defeated Sport Club Senec and GRD. The CATS AM Team Almeria also eliminated the Catalans during the quarterfinals. 

Even during its weakest moments in the tournament, this team managed to defeat other Spanish representatives in the heated quarterfinals. After this team defeated three rivals in group B, its coach Agustin Collado made it clear to competitors that the objective of this team is to retain the title. 

The Reign of Parla and AM Team in Valencia 

The beach handball circuit ended at the Malvarrosa beach in Valencia during the Spanish championship. The day was dedicated to the finals and the winners were the GEA Asesores AM Team Almeria and the Core Global BMP Parla. After that, Salazones Herpac Barbate team was defeated by the Madrid team in the senior men’s final in Malvarrosa after the game went to a shoot-out.

In the following morning, the show in the Valencian sand was enlivened by the exhibition match of Guerreras de la Arena vs Hispanos de la Arena. The Movex Granollers defeated the Azogue Malagueta after going to a shoot-out in the boy’s category. In the girl’s category, the BMP Carbotocaitos was defeated by the Nicosur who enjoyed celebrating with the 1st place trophy.

When it came to the youth finals, Mavox Granollers won after defeating Playas de Fuengirola and Beach Ciudad Real. In the men’s category, the Andalusians of Ciudad de Malaga were the winners after defeating Melilla Sports Capital Virgen de la Victoria. 

When it came to the Arena Handball Tour Champions, the Arena Handball Tour gave awards, with the GEA AM Team Almeria and BMP Algeciras being proclaimed as the senior female and male category champions of the circuit after obtaining overall standing points. 

The LLOPIS Balonmano Playa Sevilla and BMP Pachamama received awards as the youth champions. The Xabia Altealife and Movex HP Granollers were declared as cadet winners while the Ciudad de Malaga won in the children category. 

Ciudad de Málaga and LIophis Sevilla Winning Gijón

The teams from Malaga and Seville won in the Poniente beach of Gijon after exciting shoot-outs against the Movex Handbol Platja Granollers and Maruja Limon. The LLOPIS Balonmano Playa Sevilla and Maruja Limon women’s category went to a shoot-out, and the team from Seville defeated the Maruja Limon in the first set. 

However, the team from Utrera recovered during the second set in an amazing victory. During the shoot-outs, the LLOPIS Balonmano Playa Sevilla won after the Utrera team missed. In the senior men’s category finals, the Movex Handbol Platja Granollers were victorious in the first set. 

However, in the second set, the Malaga goalkeeper was the hero in the shoot-out by successfully stopping two Catalans’s attempts, who at the end, accepted the defeat. Ciudad de Málaga were victorious in the Juvenil Femenina category finals to Pinturas Sevilla. 

In the second set, Malaga defeated Laura Campos by two points, allowing the Costa del Sol team to minimize the ranking gap with the Pinturas Emeril Sevilla which was the leading team in the category.

CATS AM Team and Algeciras Champions the Arena 1000 Nazare Dreams

The CATS AM TEAM and Algeciras Beach Handball were proclaimed as the winners of the 1000 Nazare Dreams. The Andalusian team defeated GRD Leca SPAR which is one of the hosting teams. In the semis, Algeciras defeated the Movex HP Granollers, Playas de Orihuela. 

The Algeciras’ Julio Sierra defeated Malaga of Nazaré and Balonmano Playa defeated the Maravillas Benalmadena in the men’s final. The Cadiz players portrayed excellent defensive effectiveness and intensity to win the game. Despite the great tournament, Xabia Electrobombas Javes lost to Pintura Emucril Balonmano Playa Sevilla after a hard-fought match.  

Conclusion

The return of the European beach handball clearly shows how fans have been waiting for the comeback. Apart from the competition, the event will end with a series of exhibition matches. 

The fans who travel to the tournament will also enjoy the values and wonderful weather of the city.
