AEMO Beach Will Represent Misiones at the 2022 Evita Beach Games

After a closely fought provincial qualifying round, AEMO Beach, from the town of Oberá, is set to represent Misiones at the National Evita Beach Games, which will take place from March 28th to April 1st 2022 in Mar de Ajó, Argentina.
The round began on February 27th, in Posadas, the province’s capital city, where the first match was played at the beautiful Costa Sur, on the Paraná River. AEMO Beach was up against the home team, Posadas, who won 17-15 and 15-14.
The two teams met again the following weekend in Oberá, where AEMO Beach won the first match 18-16 and 19-18, leaving the round tied, and the second match 15-8 and 13-9, earning them the chance to represent their province at the national tournament later this month.

Misiones, a province on Argentina’s Atlantic coast, is home to a number of rising stars on the country’s beach handball scene, and the sport’s popularity in this part of the country has exploded in recent years.

The 2022 season was the first time the region hosted a tournament as part of the Argentine Beach Handball Circuit, and despite the province’s small size, it drew big crowds to watch seven teams from the area compete. Posadas, the province’s top ranking team of the tournament, placed fourth overall at the Argentina Cup, out of 56 teams that competed on the circuit.

While the province is best known for its spectacular waterfalls, the beaches here are also some of the best in the country, so it’s no wonder both locals and sports tourists alike are hoping to take advantage of the area’s natural beauty through beach handball.
